I really enjoyed this eleven minute documentary that's filled with interesting tidbits about the creation of Blue's Clues as well as an interview with Steve Burns.

It’s hard to believe that Blue’s Clues has been a hit on Nick Jr. for more than ten years. This ground-breaking show was the first interactive program designed for children. Blue’s Clues paved the way for other shows that encouraged viewers to be active participants such as Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go. The eleven minute documentary includes behind-the-scenes information about how the show got its start, including the origin of Blue’s unusual bark.

Steven Burns appears in the short film and shares that, while he did leave the show to pursue other interests, he was also concerned his impending baldness. Donovan Patton who plays Joe explains that the creators of Blue’s Clues took extreme care with the transition from Steve to Joe and actually hired him two years before he was ever seen on the program. Check out the “Behind the Clues” documentary for more information on the creation of Blue’s Clues.

Blue’s Clues shows no sign of slowing down and has been one of the top five programs for children for the last decade. A live-action spin-off, Blue’s Room, is set to premiere on Friday, January 26. “Blue’s Farm Playdate” will kick off the new series with Blue and her brother visiting Old MacDonald’s Farm and taking care of the animals in his absence.
