The tremendous success of Dora the Explorer Live! has prompted Nickelodeon to develop a new show that will feature Dora’s cousin, Diego. The television series, Go, Diego, Go!, has an interactive style that’s similar to Dora the Explorer. Children who watch this series join Diego on his quest to rescue animals and are encouraged to respond orally, thinking out loud and answering Diego’s questions about the task at hand. Viewers have the opportunity to exercise their thinking skills and learn a bit about animals in a way that‘s entertaining. The show debuted in 2005 and is one of the top shows for preschoolers in the U.S. today.
The live-action stage show will star Diego, Dora, and his Diego's sister, Alicia. The show will involve audience participation, with viewers helping Diego and his crew rescue Baby Jaguar’s growl from the Bobo Brothers. The director, Gip Hoppe, has worked with Nickelodeon on other tours such as Dora the Explorer Live! and Blue’s Birthday Party. The writer of the new Diego live show, Chris Gifford, wrote both Dora live-action shows and has been with Nickelodeon since 1989.
In February, “The Great Jaguar Rescue” starring Diego and his friends is set to launch in Louisville, Kentucky and is expected to make fifty stops on its U.S. tour. Tickets for Go, Diego, Go Live! go on sale November 20. The animated television series, Go, Diego, Go!, can be seen five days a week on Nick Jr. at 9:30 ET. Visit the Go, Diego, Go! website for more tour information as well as Diego-inspired printables, online games, and craft ideas.
